How does it feel to finally have committed?
"I'm really excited that I have now committed. Before I came to Charnwood I didn't think it was possible for me to play in the states."
How did you find the recruiting process?
"The recruiting process overall was long but, once coaches started to get back to me it was worth it."
What are you looking forward to most about next year?
"I'm really looking forward to meeting new people, seeing how it is different from here in England and seeing how far I can progress."
How has your time at Charnwood been so far?
"I have loved my time at Charnwood, it has definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone. I've learnt so much thanks to Krumesh, I never would of even pursued going to America."
How does the programme that Charnwood offer help you?
"I think it has helped prepare me for the commitments of playing high level sport alongside the classroom."
What are you goals for the rest of the season?
"For the rest of the season I want to push myself to be more confident on court and to concentrate on my grades."
Coach Krumesh commented on how pleased he was to see M
aggie earn a scholarship.
"We are happy to see that Maggie has found a school in Lake Region State that she really likes. Maggie has worked hard in her time here and this is a reward of that.
"She still has a season left with us and will only continue to grow, however for her to achieve something she set her mind to is impressive and will only make her more focused for this up and coming year."
Head Women's Basketball Coach Danny Mertens said, "I am excited to add a player of Maggie's character and caliber to our team. She fills a need for our team next year. Her size, athleticism and determination is what impressed me the most about her."
Maggie Gilbert is 6'2 forward from Leicester, UK and is the first signee in the Lady Royals 2017 class.
