The Lake Region State College Women's Basketball team traveled to Belcourt, ND to take on Turtle Mountain Community College. The Royals came into the game with a 5-4 record.
LRSC would control the first half maintaining a lead the whole way. However, every time they tried to extend the lead TMCC would answer with a run of their own. At half time, the Lady Royals held a 47-38 lead. After the break, it was all Lake Region. They turned up the energy on the defensive end and shut down TMCC. LRSC held Turtle Mountain to nine total second half points on their way to an 86-47 win.
Head Coach Danny Mertens said, "We got a lot better defensively tonight. All 13 players really stepped up and made the effort. I was happy we did not let some of our first half struggles on offensive effect the defensive end. We just kept getting stops until our offense found the groove."
The Lady Royals are now 6-4 on the year. They will be back in action Friday 2pm vs. Concordia JV and Saturday 12pm vs. Leech Lake in Wahpeton, ND.
