The Lake Region State College Volleyball team began their 2017-2018 campaign on the road versus Mayville State JV. It was a tough night for the Lady Royals as they lost 3-0. It was a slow start in the first set with the Comets jumping out to an early lead and never looking back. They finished the first set quickly by the final score of 12-25. The Lady Royals didn't stay down for long and came back battling in what was a back and forth second set. A late run by the Comets put them over the top giving them the second set win 18-25. The third and final set of the night proved to be the toughest with the Lady Royals battling to win their first set. Netiher team could make a run to extend the lead. It came down to the very end with the final score in favor of the comets 24-26.
Highlights on the night for the Lady Royals were the kills by newcomers Erin Jorgensen, who had 10 and Elizabeth Lucy, who had 8. Sophomores led the way with digs and assists. Carly Boe had 8 digs and Jaeleon Roberts had 13 assists. Freshman Precious Rawlins added 11 assists to help the Lady Royals.
Head Volleyball Coach Brigitte Greywater said about her teams performance, "It was a tough one tonight. We are young and we were a little nervous. We're growing together as a team and we will use this as a learning experience."
The Lady Royals are back in action in their home opener August 23rd, at 7:30pm at Sweetwater Elementary School. Come out and support your Lady Royals Volleyball team.
