This past weekend the Lake Region State College Lady Royals Volleyball team traveled to the twin cities to take on regional opponents DCTC and Gogebic CC. LRSC came into the weekend with a 3-20 (0-7) record. DCTC was 6-14 on the year and Gogebic was 6-13. The Royals had won the previous match against Gogebic and their game against DCTC being the first matchup between the two squads on the season.
It was a weekend of missed opportunities for the Royals squad. They just could never seem to get on the same page throughout any of the sets. LRSC couldn't put it all together. They would struggle in one aspect while succeeding in another, then get one going and struggle in another area. At times their serves were on point and on target, the next they put a couple in the net. One minute they were bumping but couldn't set, the next their receive struggled to give them an opportunity to get the kill.
In the first match, DCTC swept LRSC in 3 sets with the score 25-11, 25-22 & 25-16. The second match, Gogebic took the match 3 sets to 1 winning 25-16, 25-23, 22-25 & 25-9.
Head Coach Brigitte Greywater said, "We just need to find that winning edge. That's what is missing. We have moments of greatness in us we just can't do it consistently. We can't continue to miss opportunities and give the other team free points with our errors on the court." The Royals are now 3-22 (0-7) on the year.
The Royals play their last road game of the year on Wednesday night against MonDak leading Bismarck State College. They are then home Friday night, October 9th versus Dawson CC which will be held at the sportscenter 7pm. Then Saturday October 13th and Sunday October 14th LRSC will play host to the Sleep Inn Slamfest Volleyball Tournament. Plenty of opportunities to come out and support your Royals Volleyball Team.
