Midland JV Defeats Resilient Lake Region State College Royals Varsity
LRSC Royals fought back after falling down by five runs in the third inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-6 defeat to Midland JV on Thursday. LRSC Royals scored four runs in the failed comeback. Jonathan Mendez, Austyn Andrachick, Jackson Soza, and Adrian Alcantar all picked up RBIs in the rally. LRSC Royals lost despite out-hitting Midland JV 13 to seven. LRSC Royals opened up scoring in the first inning. James Sampson-Keck hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run. Midland JV pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Urban singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, Halbert singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs, Brown singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and Midland JV scored one run on a stolen base. LRSC Royals put up three runs in the seventh inning. LRSC Royals's big inning was driven by singles by Andrachick and Alcantar and by Soza. Austin McClure took the loss for LRSC Royals. The righthander lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out six. LRSC Royals collected 13 hits on the day. The game was tied at eight with Briar Cliff JV batting in the bottom of the eighth when an error scored one run for Briar Cliff JV. LRSC Royals lost despite out-hitting Briar Cliff JV 11 to nine. Briar Cliff JV fired up the offense in the first inning, when an error scored one run for Briar Cliff JV. LRSC Royals knotted the game up at seven in the top of the sixth inning. Jaret Lupton doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. LRSC Royals put up five runs in the third inning. LRSC Royals stole the lead late in the game in an 8-3 victory over Midland JV on Friday. The game was tied at three with LRSC Royals batting in the top of the sixth when Ryan Veneman drew a walk, scoring one run. LRSC Royals put up three runs in the seventh inning. LRSC Royals big bats in the inning were led by singles by James Sampson-Keck, Veneman, and Payton Davisson. Daniel Mercandelli earned the win for LRSC Royals. The righthander lasted two innings, allowing five hits and three runs while walking zero. Brock Degooyer threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Degooyer recorded the last six outs to earn the save for LRSC Royals. LRSC is now 3-5 on the season and will head to Glendive, MT this weekend to open up MonDak play against Dawson CC.
