The 2026 Lake Region State College Royals Baseball season is just around the corner, full of potential and intensity.
With 26 on their roster, Head Coach Steven Anderson and Assistant Coach Tucker Salander, the Royals bring in talent, diversity, and the hunger to play. Last season the Royals placed fifth out of seven teams in the Mon-Dak Athletic conference with an 11-13 win-loss in the conference.
The struggle to grasp some wins was strong at the beginning of the season, however eight of the games lost in March were only lost by 4 or less runs
But in April, a flip switched. The Royals dug in their cleats and gave a tough battle to every team they played, pulling off some wins. The Royals placed first in stolen bases in conference and had 15 home runs overall, 13 of which were in conference games. The title of first place may not have been won by our Royals, but the team showed solid improvement.
Hopefully this year the trend of improvement continues to accelerate upwards which Coach Anderson believes is the case,
"This year we are heading into the season with the largest roster in Royals baseball history, with 26 players. We return a strong core of 10 sophomores who will help lead the charge, along with 16 talented freshmen who are expected to make immediate contributions," Anderson said.
Anderson added that the team's goals are to break the college's record for wins, compete for a conference championship, and make a deep run into the playoffs.
"We are also proud to return two award-winning players from last season—Lucas Lyons (All-Conference) and Dane Hagler (All-Region)—but our strength lies in the depth and unity of the entire squad."
The Royals expect to run the bases hard, steal a lot of bases, and score in bunches, while a deep pitching staff gives us the ability to compete against any opponent, Anderson said.
"Our team's motto is to "create chaos," and we plan to play an aggressive, high-energy style of baseball."
This will be a fun team to watch, and we believe we have the talent and drive to accomplish something special. Come support Royals baseball and be part of an exciting season!"
The team kicks off its spring season February 20th against North Arkansas College.
